- have sharp edges?
- are falling to pieces?
- are coming unglued?
- had an ugliness about you?
- you've been torn down by situations or people?
- low in stature?
- were spiritually out of shape?
Well if you have, I have a solution for you. But you must be willing to put the solution to work, because I can't do it for you. The solution is to pray in the Spirit!
Jude 20 says: But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
The previous text in Jude had been speaking about last day situations and people. Last day situations and people will require last day saints. Those who will work while it is yet day and continue to stay built up and strong for the journey. Thus we read ... but YOU beloved! YOU BUILD YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith. How? PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST! YOU keep YOURSELVES in the love of God. YOU look for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ in these times.
The amplified translation of Jude 20 reads like this:
- But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;
Notice not only are you building yourself up, but you are building on YOUR holy faith, not MY holy faith. As Christians we are of one united faith, however, each of us have to take it and make it personal in our own lives, so we can make spiritual progress.
We also see here that the amplified says to: rise like an edifice ... higher and higher.
Edifice is defined as: a large well organized building, with a very stately, elegant, impressive appearance.
So we could say that God wants us to pray in the Spirit on the bases of His Word until we are organized and impressive in this earth, head and shoulders above all others. A light in the midst of a dark city.
When we go around expressing ourselves as beat up, unclean, shabbily dressed, out of shape, sharp tongued, unglued, undisciplined, uneducated, unorganized people we are not reflecting the people that God says that we are.
The disciples were even told that when fasting (the lowest times in their lives) that they were not to go around like that, but instead to clean up, oil the head and walk as the edifice that we are in Him.
So I challenge you to get built up by getting in the Word of God and praying in the Holy Ghost. As you do you will find that your life begins to change. You will be different, you will look different and people will notice the difference. You will be led by the Holy Ghost into a new you.
