Crossing Jordan

Joshua 1:1-2

1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

There will come a time in every believer's life when things familiar will pass away and God will challenge them to arise, and go over Jordan.
Jordan symbolizes the blockade between you and the promise. It represents the transition between where you are and where you want to be. It is what is keeping you from the place where you will be more effective and productive.

Just hoping will not get you to the other side of your Jordan and into your desired land. Wishing and praying alone will not get you there. To get to the other side of your Jordan you will have to take faith steps.
You will first have to come to terms with the fact that to get to the other side of the Jordan is to leave what is dead and unproductive behind. This puts a requirement on you to move out of your comfort zone and to move forward as the Spirit commands in spite of how it looks, or feels.

Anytime we want to receive something new or more from God, there will be a requirement to let go of something. Joshua had to let go of Moses, and leave his present place, in order to get over to what God had promised. He had to take up a new position of authority and begin to move forward.

There he was standing before this large barrier of deep water that was separating him from the place that he wanted to be. Have you ever felt like you was standing before deep waters that was keeping you from where you want to be? If so you have experienced a Jordan. Large seemingly impassable barriers.

Crossing Jordan's will require you:
  • to step out of the place you are, into the seemingly impossible.
  • to leave the familiar for the unfamiliar
  • to use your authority in Christ Jesus and walk by faith.
Crossing Jordan's will demand you:
  • to be strong and courageous
  • to keep yourself in the Word daily and faithful obey it.
  • to call those things that be not as though they were, speaking God's report instead of the natural report known through the sense realm.

Once you begin to move forward with these faith steps. You will soon find yourself on the other side of the barrier that separated you from what God was desiring for you all along. The good land where you are both effective and productive.
